My last southern border trip was with Zeno, his swan song adventure out west while he was dying of mast cell cancer. Here, a year and a half later, I take the southern route once again, returning to the same New Mexican ranch (the destination of Zeno’s first and last major roadtrips) to bury my mother’s ashes under a cottonwood planted in her honor.
The glorious South region of the U.S. never fails to delight while on the road. Here it encompasses the world’s largest pistachio and rocker, petroglyph, mammoth and lava sites, Billy the Kid and Afro-Am Heritage Museums. [kindly hover over images for captions]
